A-Net Ports
Two EtherCon jacks are provided for A‑Net connections, labeled A and B.
Connections can use standard RJ45‑style cables or cables outfitted with
the locking EtherCon connector. Refer to the section on network modes for
additional information about using these jacks.
Digital Inputs and Outputs
Two versions of the 6416dio Digital I/O Module are manufactured, one with
DB25 multipin connectors and another with BNC connectors.
DB25 Version I/O
Sixteen digital input and output channels are available on two female DB25
multipin connectors, eight I/O channels per connector. The AES3 format
provides pairs of digital audio channels on each XLR connector. Each DB25
multipin on the 6416dio provides eight channels of AES3 input and eight
channels of AES3 output simultaneously. Breakout cables for the DB25
multipin jacks used with the 6416dio should be configured with four male
XLR jacks and four female XLR jacks.
The 6416dio module’s DB25 connectors are designed to accept digital signals
whose wiring conforms to either the Yamaha‑compatible or Digidesign/
Tascam‑compatible pinouts. Always use cables configured for the device
that the 6416dio is being connected to; the two common wiring conventions
(Yamaha and Digidesign/Tascam compatible) are not interchangeable.
